Senior Hardware Engineer/ Manager

Job Overview

This position is responsible for leading and organizing the hardware development and test efforts at the company headquarters, with some companywide responsibilities.

The ideal person would have hands-on experience with high-speed camera design, including VHDL coding, CMOS imagers, and image analysis.

Demonstrated organizational skills and development process experience is essential. Some experience with system architecture development is also desirable.

Job Responsibilities

The job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Organizing the Hardware development efforts at the company headquarters to provide a productive and coordinated development environment.
  • Oversee hardware development to assure that our products meeting reliability and regulatory requirements.
  • Insure that product documentation is accurate and up to date.
  • Development of test strategies which are cost and time effective.
  • Provides leadership in diagnosis and solutions to level 3 customer problems.
  • Helps develop junior staff by mentoring, identifying development opportunities and training.
  • Recommends appropriate tools and technical software which improve hardware development companywide.
  • Works together with other functional departments to prioritize development projects and features.
  • Owns the hardware development process and implements improvements.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Necessary Skills/Talents

  • B. S Degree in Engineering or Computer Science.  Preferred M.S. Engineering degree or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop technical staff.
  • Experience with relevant technologies. Special consideration will be given to past experience with high speed cameras or CMOS camera development.
  • Recognizes speed of execution as a competitive advantage for Vision Research and thus makes decisions and takes risks to support the rapid development of products and solutions.
  • Excellent technical judgment and decision making skills.
  • Dependable person with good work ethic.
  • Team player who desires working in an environment where team concepts are valued and practiced, and encourages teamwork in his/her staff.
